Main duties and responsibilities
- Operates within Turning Point Scotland policies and procedures.
- Assist with on-the-job training.
- Oversees elements of administration support.
- Participates in in-service meetings and produces notes/minutes.
- Produce reports from more complex data.
- Responsible for carrying out specific tasks to deadline (without prompt).
- Drafting simple letters/emails etc based on information provided.
- Responsible for petty cash and submitting returns.
- Processing financial transactions on Pegasus Finance System.
- Administration and processing of service user finance.
- Processing of HR and Payroll information.
- To be familiar and comply with Turning Point Scotland's finance policies and procedures.
- To comply with Turning Point Scotland's property and equipment policies and procedures.
- To share information gathered during the course of work appropriately and as directed with other professionals within and outwith Turning Point Scotland in compliance with the Data Protection Act and regulatory authorities' and other legal requirements.
- To maintain accurate and up-to-date time sheets which can be relied on by the Service Manager for billing purposes and statistical reporting etc.
- To minimise expenses incurred by the Turning Point Scotland in the course of providing supports.
- To be aware of and operate in compliance with the Scottish Social Services Council Code of Practice for Social Services Workers.
- To participate purposefully in and take advantage of the opportunities for discussion afforded by Turning Point Scotland's staff supervision and annual appraisal scheme.
- To be responsible for your own good practice and for the promotion of good practice among colleagues.
- To work to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and create an atmosphere for service users which is free from conflict.
- To report concerns about practice or conduct issues to the Service Manager (or nominated deputy).
- To attend all mandatory training in order to demonstrate fitness and continued fitness to practice safely.
- To attend training which has been identified by the Service Manager (or nominated deputy) as being necessary skills to undertake the duties and responsibilities of your post.
- To take any action necessary to become eligible for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council and to maintain registration once archived.
- To be responsible for your own continous professional development and identify any perceived 'gaps' in your knowledge which require to be addressed through training, or other mains to the Service Manager (or nominated deputy).
- To assist the Service Manager with the on-the-job induction of new starts within the service, and demonstrate good practice at all times in this regard.
- To ensure that you can demonstrate your continued suitability to work with vulnerable adults or children by completing an application for an up-to-date Standard Disclosure for Disclosure Scotland, on a 3-yearly basis or as required.
- To be familiar and comply with Turning Point Scotland's Human Resources and Training policies and procedures.
Health and Safety
- To support the Service Manager in the management of risk within the service especially with regards to those services users who can occasionally be violent or aggressive towards their support team.
Turning Point Scotland Perth & Kinross
Turning Point Scotland operates in communities across Scotland, from the larger cities and towns, to more remote or rural locations. As an organisation we recognise the unique challenges to supporting people with complex needs across different locations.
Turning Point Scotland’s Perth & Kinross service has been providing support to adults with learning disabilities and autism since 2007. There are three supported projects in the city with different types of accommodation suited to individual need. Many of the individuals we support have complex needs and benefit from specialised support that clearly focus’s on the individual’s outcomes.
The objective of the service is to maximise the opportunities individuals have for improving their quality of life and participating in the community whilst supporting those individuals to mange risks to their own wellbeing . The strength of the service is the partnership working with local agencies like health and social services to ensure the individual can lead as fulfilling and independent as life as possible but in a safe and stable environment. The aim is to work with individuals to maintain their place in the community instead of remaining in a hospital environment long term.
Rosie’s Garden is a new social enterprise development in Perth and Kinross. This venture is led by those we support and in partnership with other local and national agencies. Rosie’s provides a vibrant and friendly placement for adults with learning disabilities to develop horticultural based knowledge and skills. Rosies Garden is a point of sale for high quality plants and as such also offers opportunities for those involved to develop skills relating to retail and community gardening.

Education & Qualifications
- Educated to standard grade level or equivalent as a minimum, including English and maths.
- Experience in general office administration.
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs.
- Word processing skills.
- Good level of literacy, accuracy and presentation in all types written work and other written work.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- Good telephone manner.
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility in carrying out any other duties that may be required by the organisation.
- Ability to work outside normal office hours if required.
- An understanding of confidentiality issues.
- Must be able to demonstrate a shared commitment to TPS values and principles.

The main terms and conditions of the service include the following:
The salary scale for the post will be (reduced pro rata for part time posts, the full time equivalent is a 37 working hour week)
The annual leave entitlement will be (reduced pro rata for part time posts and will include a proportional entitlement to public holidays)
25 days per year, plus 8 public holidays and 2 local holidays.
