JOB PURPOSE:     

To help equip people with mental health problems with the facility for self-empowerment in order to attain more satisfying and valued lifestyles. This will be done by providing education and instruction in employment-related skills within our social enterprises. One business manufactures high quality picture frames and the other manufactures hand-made textile products. The post holder will work between our various enterprises and will be responsible for day to day smooth running of Workshop and Associated business activity.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


1.         To enable individuals recovering from mental health problems to develop and establish work skills through a therapeutic and creative medium.


2.         To assist individuals to develop their own practical skills in the production of a variety of products and to impart new skills/techniques.


3.         To encourage individuals to develop social skills through working in a group setting.


4.         To be involved in the recruitment and assessment of potential service-users, including individual contract agreements and skills-based learning programmes.


5.         To liase with other projects in the group via the senior workshop co-ordinator in order to ensure the smooth operation of our shared premises   and each project’s remit within it.


6.         To liase with other mental health or employment services as directed by the senior workshop co-ordinator.


7.         To ensure regular business meetings take place within the project in order to promote ownership of all aspects of the business.


8.         To maintain accurate records of personnel and business activity, including stocktaking and ordering of materials.


9.         To carry out any other duties, consistent with the post, as requested by management.


10.       To ensure a health and safety environment by complying with organisational policy and current Health and Safety Legislation.



 


Rosies Social Enterprises is part of the charity Turning Point Scotland.  We provide vocational training, support and work experience for people who have mental health issues and those who have an acquired brain injury.  We operate as professional businesses and our trading activities provide income which supplements the funding that is provided through our commissioners.
Craft and Design or Art Qualification

Desirable

Education & Qualifications

Turning Point Scotland operates a List of Approved Relief Workers who may be contacted by services when there is a need to engage additional workers in order to provide the required support to someone who uses our services. Relief Workers are primarily deployed to cover periods of leave, or sickness absence and to provide additional support during periods of peak activity etc


When there is suitable work available within a service, a manager will contact Relief Workers offer them a shift/series of shifts. As a Relief Worker you will be well-placed to fit your work around your existing work or other commitments and you will be under no pressure or obligation to accept work from us if it does not suit you to do so. Once work is offered and accepted by you however, there is an expectation that you will make every effort to attend to undertake that shift. Your reliability in this regard is very important to our services and to the people we support who will be expecting you.


Relief Workers submit a Time Sheet to claim payment for the hours they have worked and are paid on a monthly basis. You will accrue some entitlement to paid holidays and you will be reimbursed for all reasonable expenses incurred in the course of your work for us.


You will be required to undertake a programme of basic training which is primarily designed to enable you to operate safely, but also to meet the organisation’s obligations to you in terms of health & safety legislation.


Relief Working at Turning Point Scotland will not normally be suitable for people who have full-time posts with other agencies.
