To monitor and ensure the safety of the visitors, staff and property of the building. To organise working time in such a way as the maximise the efficiency of the service. All duties and responsibilities to be carried out with due regard to Turning Point Scotland and GDCC’s procedures and code of conduct.

Service Delivery

  • To agree a preventative security programme for the service in collaboration with the Service Manager and Administration Officer.
  • To report all security weakness to the Administration Officer/Service Co-ordinator on duty.
  • To operate the switchboard, receive all visitors and clients to the service and maintain the signing in/out procedure log.
  • Ensure reception/work area is kept neat and tidy.
  • Monitor all security equipment and instigate necessary action and to regularly patrol the building throughout shifts.

Quality Assurance

  • To support all Team Members in upholding the rules and regulations of the service.
  • Participate in implementing and using quality assurance systems, appropriate to the needs of the service, in partnership with stakeholders.

Administration and Financial Management

  • Contribute to and maintain individual and organisational records.
  • Record information in line with the organisation’s Confidentiality Policy and the Data Protection Act.
  • Operate the organisation’s financial procedures in line with guidelines and budgetary limits.

Health & Safety and Property Management

  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, and the best use of property and equipment, by implementing and adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Have a shared responsibility for ensuring that standards of health, safety and hygiene are maintained within the service.
  • Use risk assessment practices to avoid or minimise risk in all areas of your work and support.

Learning and Development

  • Participate in internal and external learning opportunities, as directed.
  • Actively participate in and be committed to the supervision and appraisal processes, in line with organisational policy.

Communications

  • Promote the aims of the Service and Turning Point Scotland.
  • Represent Turning Point Scotland effectively at local level, liaising with individuals, stakeholders and communities.

Other Requirements

  • Undertake any other tasks as may be reasonably requested.
  • Undertake sleepover, overnight, weekend and unsociable hours, as required.

The Glasgow Drug Crisis Centre is a busy 24/7 service for drug users, combining a Methadone Clinic, One Stop Service which provides an Injection Equipment Provision Service, Harm Reduction expertise, BBV advice and testing as well as 24/7 telephone or one to one advice. Also has a 12 bedded Residential Unit. Its multi-disciplinary teams comprise social care workers, nurses and medical staff, who encourage and support Service Users to find ways of making their drug use less problematic and to achieve a better quality of life. Many Service Users will be unable to cope and be at risk, but whatever the issue Turning Point Scotland is committed to rehabilitation and recovery through effective person centred support.  



 

 

Essential

  • Literate and numerate
  • Previous knowledge and experience of alarm systems, CCTV, switchboard and reception duties.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • Ability to speak confidently and concisely, and listen and ask questions
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Calmness and awareness of when to give assistance.
  • Good telephone manner – able to deal pleasantly and effectively with incoming and outgoing calls.

Desirable

  • Be able to priorities activities and allocate appropriate time
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues

Turning Point Scotland operates a List of Approved Relief Workers who may be contacted by services when there is a need to engage additional workers in order to provide the required support to someone who uses our services. Relief Workers are primarily deployed to cover periods of leave, or sickness absence and to provide additional support during periods of peak activity etc

When there is suitable work available within a service, a manager will contact Relief Workers offer them a shift/series of shifts. As a Relief Worker you will be well-placed to fit your work around your existing work or other commitments and you will be under no pressure or obligation to accept work from us if it does not suit you to do so. Once work is offered and accepted by you however, there is an expectation that you will make every effort to attend to undertake that shift. Your reliability in this regard is very important to our services and to the people we support who will be expecting you.

Relief Workers submit a Time Sheet to claim payment for the hours they have worked and are paid on a monthly basis. You will accrue some entitlement to paid holidays and you will be reimbursed for all reasonable expenses incurred in the course of your work for us.

You will be required to undertake a programme of basic training which is primarily designed to enable you to operate safely, but also to meet the organisation’s obligations to you in terms of health & safety legislation.

Relief Working at Turning Point Scotland will not normally be suitable for people who have full-time posts with other agencies.
